About Us
HRC supports individuals and families impacted by substance use and co-occurring disorders, with a focus on those facing barriers due to stigma, prejudice, or discrimination. Through advocacy, education, and peer services, we work toward a future where recovery is accessible to all. Through community collaboration, we create a network of support that breaks down barriers to recovery.
Our Mission
Hillsborough Recovery Coalition (HRC) is a community-based organization that provides recovery resources and support to individuals and families impacted by substance use, including those experiencing co-occurring mental health challenges.
Through advocacy, community education, and peer support services, HRC works to strengthen recovery, expand access to support, and open the door of recovery for all.
Our Vision
HRC envisions a day in which all individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders find recovery and are embraced and connected in communities, free from stigma and discrimination.
Our Values
HRC supports all individuals, including those from marginalized and underserved communities, who are impacted by substance use and mental health challenges.
- Collaborating and building partnerships with community organizations, faith-based groups, treatment and healthcare providers, and government agencies that share our values.
- Developing and using peers (persons with lived experience) at all levels of our organization;
- Supporting multiple pathways of recovery, including harm reduction, medication management, self-management, 12-step approaches, and others.
- Integrating and embodying trauma-informed principles throughout our work.
- Connecting individuals and families with resources that support whole-person health and recovery; and
- Reducing barriers caused by stigma and discrimination that limit access to recovery education, resources, and support.
